How do I get started?

Students Please Note: Interwrite PRS Session Data contains your Student ID along with your Clicker ID. If you lose or break the unit please report your new Clicker ID to each faculty member utilizing Interwrite PRS clickers (instructions to find your Clicker ID are below). If you borrow a clicker from other students your session data will contain an error (Duplicate Student ID) and will not be graded unless the faculty member corrects the error. This error will prevail even if you change the Student ID before answering any questions.

C. Press * to display the Setup Menu
D. Scroll up to display the ID: menu option
E. Press enter (green arrow) to select it

G. If correct, press enter (green arrow) to save your Student ID

2. How do I change my Student ID if I have entered it incorrectly?

Follow the same procedure (detailed above) to change your Student ID

3. Do I have to point my clicker at the receiver when I submit my answer?

No, the PRS RF system operates in the 2.4GHz frequency range and uses a Direct Spread Spectrum Sequence (DSSS) technology.

4. How long do the batteries last?

The PRS RF Clicker uses three (3) AAA batteries – standard alkaline batteries. One set of batteries is included with the purchase. The batteries are installed in the battery compartment, the cover of which is secured with a screw. The average life expectancy of the three AAA batteries in the PRS RF Clicker is estimated at 26 weeks with typical use. Variations in battery life will occur based on the unit’s sleep time setting and on how often Self Paced Test and Homework modes, which typically consume more power, are used. The PRS RF Clicker has a battery level indicator that displays at power up. A diagnostic battery display in the Setup Menu provides an indication of the percentage of battery life remaining. When the battery gets very low, the PRS RF Clicker will display a “Low Battery” warning.

5. Are there recurring registration charges for students?

No, there are no ongoing registration fees required of the school or the students to continue using the system. The only cost of the PRS RF system is the hardware. The initial cost is up front—purchasing the system. The only recurring costs are for replacement batteries.

6. How do I know if my answer has been received?

The PRS RF Clicker has an LCD display that is 2 lines by 16 characters. The keys pressed by the student appear on the first line of the display. The second line shows status messages returned by PRS. The response is sent when the Send/Enter key is pressed. A status message, such as Received, will appear on the second line of the Clicker display when the response has been processed. Answers sent while using a different clicker will not be included in the grade book unless the faculty member manually changes your Clicker ID error.

7. Can I change my answer?
The instructor can set the number of chances, from 1 to 99, a student has to answer a question. PRS tracks the number of times a student responds to a question. Only the last response is saved.

8. Why does my clicker always turn off?

PRS RF clickers go into Sleep Mode while inactive to extend battery life. Press any key to wake up the clicker before using.

9. Will the UML bookstore buy back my clicker?

Yes, the UML bookstore will buy back used Interwrite PRS RF clickers in good working condition.
